Weird trans issues on 90 accord auto, please read and help...
ok so i have a 90 accord dx automatic 2.2l coupe, my transmission just started doing this today, the sport shift light began blinking, and without manually shifting gears it takes off from a dead stand still in third but if i manualy shift i can get it to go in second, but no matter what i do i cant get 1st, or 4th to work, i checked the fluid and its full and not burnt, im thinking it could be the shift soleniod, if anybody else has had a similiar issue please leave a comment with any help you may be able to give me. thx! oh and the light doesnt blink when its in reverse...

you need to check your codes. There is a kick panel on the pass floor with a blue 2 pole connector behind it. Jump it with a paper clip and read the "s" light blinks. long blinks multiples of 10 and short blinks are multiples of 1 (exp. 1 long and 4 short = code 14)
then read this link and match up your TCU codes and that is what your prob. is.

you can try and clean it. Take it off the trans then spray some carb cleaner to clean. Also do a drain and fill on the trans with HONDA ATF ONLY. Also make sure you don't have your trans power flushed honda trans don't like that...you can only drain and fill.
If it comes down to your solenoid(s) are bad I have a set I can sell you fairly cheap.

Look at the second page of the pdf in this link:
media.honda.co.uk/car/owner/media/manuals/accordManual/400/9-22.pdf
This is for the UK accord, but it should be the same setup as the US accord. That is one component that has both shift solenoids. You can test the resistance from each pin to the solenoid to ground. The resistance should be 12-24 ohms.

Have a friend with a 94 Accord. Thought tranny went bad. Towed to shop, changed fluid (Honda ATF) Reverse and Drive worked in shop, backed it out for a test run and drive wouldnt work, or reverse. Put back in garage to research.(2 Days later) Had to take it out of shop for room and it backed right out but drive didnt work, reverse only worked to back it out. No slipping or previuos problems. All linkage looks fine. Can't afford to take to trans shop. Its cold here now if that matters. Friend changed axle day before problem and he thinks wife put in a quart of non Honda fluid. Any help would be appreciated.
Seems like electrical or torque converter to me???
