Default 92 intermittent engine die

my 92 4cyl auto intermittingly dies, then starts. changed the main relay, thought about the fuel pump ,think maybe distributer.
how common are these failures, are the fuel pumps a common fail,or are the dizzy's a common fail? I wish it would just stay not runnin that would be easier

Diagnose the problem first, before replacing parts. Can you get the car to stall out by shaking the key when running?

How old are the maintenance items, like the distributor cap, distributor rotor, and the spark plugs? Are they due for a change?

if you can attach a fuel gauge and monitor fuel pressure ,, that would help you diagnose if it is lack of fuel....i would think that is is more like a distributor igniter if fuel pressure is ok,, But like PA stated,, need to diagnose before replacing parts and wasting money
