92 V 93 accord and lx V EX
trying to understand the difference from a 92 and 93 and lx to ex.
this is what I know:
92 or 93 lx - no diff except that 93 added pass. airbags
ex V LX - dual exhaust on EX, few more HP, same engine. trim differences (moonroof etc) but i'm only concerned with mechanicals. Do ex parts swap out to lx parts on either 92 or 93 versions or are there differences with computers, ex has 2 O2 sensors, etc?
lastly, 98-01 accords had a reputation for bad trannys? or was it 98-02?
and timing chains came into play with 4 cyl. accords in 2004?
thanks

98-02 had transmission problems.
93 LX/93 EX have the same engine block, but different cylinder head, wire harness, distributor, exhaust parts, ECU. Both have one o2 sensor, but in different locations.
Some parts can be swapped out. When trying to figure out parts that can be swapped, look up the OEM part numbers for both vehicles to see if they match.
I'm not sure when the timing chains were included. Maybe 03 or 04.

I don't think there was ever dual exhaust on a 4-cyl. Dual TIPS maybe...
The all-new K-series 4-cylinder engine with timing chain started in 2003.
Most years the EX had rear disk brakes, LX had rear drums. I think the exceptions may have been 'special edition' versions in the last year of a generation.
1996 with OBD-2 is when the 2nd oxygen sensor appeared in the catalytic converter. There were some older cars (maybe only Civic?) that had 2 sensors both in the manifold.
Somewhere back there the VTEC engine started in the EX. I'm not sure what years/versions for that.
