Hi,
Just finished swapping complete engine from a 92EX to a 93LX... 6th digit of vin is 7 on both cars. Starts and runs perfect except the Alternator starts smoking about 30 seconds after starting. Changed the alternator and same result... Any ideas

 

Well I'm pretty sure you know that you have a short. remove the plug(s) from the alt and start a little testing......

 

Yes that was my first thought...but - wanted to make sure there wasn't some minor difference in the computers on these cars... Already had one difference in the location of the oxy sensor.
