I still think you need to check the igniter. You are describing the exact symptoms my car had.

Wholey Moley Batman, thats a lot of information. I think. he will become an ignition specialist after studying all that!!

93 Accord Distributor Problem-- conclusion and lessons learned.
Long story short, it was the side connector on the ICM. It was going on too easy. Turns out it was only going into the plastic boot, not into the connector inside the boot. After reading through all the great information in the article DesertHonda sent, and both ICMs tested OK, I decided to crimp those wire connectors to insure a better contact. Engine fired right up, like it had been waiting for me to figure it out. I'm not very good at figuring out circuits and grounds and checking for continuity. Might have to find a book for that.
Thanks to all for your helpful advice along the way, saved me $150 for a new distributor.
