ok im new to this i have a 1993 honda accord the timeing belt broke and the cam was broke i put both new ones in it runs but has a rough idol and when i try to go faster it chatters bad HELP PLEASE what do i have wrong thank yall larry

 

o i forgot sorry it is a 2.2 motor the timeing marks on the cam gear and crank gear are lined up the way it showed on a diagram i got off the internet please help again thanks all

If the belt and cam broke - first thing do do is check the valve lash. Second, if you did not pull the head, is to do a compression test of each cyl.

 

thanks poorman they checked the compression said it was good the timeing marks on the cam gear i beleive they have wrong the 2 slits on the outside teeth should be lined up to top of head which means where it sayes top on the gear would be alittle to the right--- am i right? again thank you so much p.s. i looked at the cam and where it broke it looked like it got hot the seal was pretty much gone and the back of the gear looked scorned if that make sense again thank you

 

Yes when at tdc #1, the "up" on the cam gear is up and the two lines/slits on the gear should be even with the head.

Did you adjust the valve lash on each cyl? If the cam was replace then this has to be done.

Check the spark plug wires to be sure they are on correctly. Order 1-3-4-2, with #1 cyl being the one closest to the drivers side of the car.

What was the compression readings on each cyl - please post the numbers.
