'94 Accord won't start
Since I didn't really see how the pump was supposed to be attached, I have some questions. The rubber insulator "cap" between the end of the pump and the bracket doesn't fit very well. I can't get it snug and flat on the new Delphi pump and it looked just as sloppy on the old one. Seems like the strainer pulls it to one side. With everything assembled and in the pump bracket, things don't quite line up. An issue or insignificant? Since the pump wasn't on the bracket before, I'd like to feel better about this. The output hose is the only other thing that holds it on. Wish there was a more secure attaching point but I'm guessing it's like this to reduce noise transmission. Also, the new strainer came with a rubber o-ring and a metal band but no info how to use them. The old strainer had the band loosely around the tube where it fits to the pump, doing nothing. No sign anywhere of an o-ring. Might leave both off unless someone here says otherwise.
The bracket says Associated Fuel Pump Systems Corp but the dealership parts kid didn't know if this was an OEM supplier or aftermarket. If it's been replaced before, that could explain why things weren't right. Still looking for answers.

I had a fuel pump out for awhile waiting for a new pump to arrive. All the rubber parts didn't fit.
I realized that gasoline makes the rubber swell up, so I put all the rubber bushings, grommets, etc in a bottle of gasoline for a couple hours. Fit real nice after that!

Might be the final chapter here. Soaking the rubber insulator didn't make much difference in the fit (attached pic), but I clamped it in with the bracket to get things as snug as possible. Everything went back together, dumped in some gas, and the car fired after a few seconds of pressurizing the system. A couple trips around the block with no issues whatsoever, so I'm calling this one "done" until a wheel falls off or something. Beer's on me, guys!
