Default 95 accord engine swap

Hey guys i have a 95 accord with the f22 vtec thats blown, bought a f23a vtec from ebay and in the process of removing the blown engine, im new to honda and hope i have everything figured out, as far as i know i need to swap the intake manifold and distributor to keep it obd1. Right now im to the point of unbolting the motor mounts but i need to remove the axles. What size are the axle nuts? 36mm? Also what all needs to be unbolted to remove the axles?

High level, lower fork mounting bolt, lower ball joint. Then the question of, are you pulling the trans or just the engine. I only ask because you might not have to "fully" remove the CV shaft(s) to pull the engine.

Also remember you will need a new ECU to run the new engine. And the one from the F23A will not work. Probably your best option would be a chipped P28 with a tune. Or a H22 ECU might be close enough.

Oh I'm sorry its been a while since I studied the Honda engines, I got the SOHC F23A confused with the DOHC cam H23A.

Your stock F22 ECU can run a F23A

The axle nuts are 36mm.

Will your 95 distributor bolt to the 98-02 cylinder head?

I think the F22 ECU should be able to run the engine, but you never know what issues can arise from using a ECU not designed to run your engine. The F22 ECU should be able to adjust the fuel to the proper air/fuel ratio.

If you run into problems, you may need to use the PCM from a 98-02. You would then need to get an OBD1 wire harness to plug into an OBD2 PCM. You could use a 98-02 wire harness, the 96-97 wire harness, or some combination to make it OBD2. Just something to keep in the back of your mind.

You'll be "ok" with the stock ECU that is in the car. Also since you are swapping the intake and dist that will save some wiring issues. One more to think about, the vtec solenoid and or wires will need to be resolved.

Where I was going with the cv shafts - most of these have enough play in the strut/knuckle assy that you can remove the inner joint from the trans/inter shaft (manual trans) once the fork bolt and lower ball joint are removed.....

According to his 1st post, he's swapping out an F22 VTEC engine for a F23 VTEC, so the ecu should work.
