Default 95 Accord EX 4 cylinder Transmission

Hi, have a 95 Accord EX with four cylinder. Am curious how many miles are those transmissions good for, know there are lots of variables but wanted to ask to see what kind of reply's there will be. Mine has 165,000 miles and was going downhill it did not want to shift, could of swore the D4 or P lights flashed when it was started but not sure. Going to have it looked at just to make sure there is nothing wrong. It needs new tires and do not want to waste money if the transmission is going to go out, also how much is it to rebuild a transmission for this car?

Thanks
Damon

my old coupe had 214,000 miles when I sold it and not one ounce of trouble from the tranny. my wagon has 201,000 and same thing, no problems yet.

It depends on how you maintain them. Change the tranny fluid (use the ATF from the Honda dealership) at the recommended intervals. The 94-97 transmissions didn't have the failures that the 98-02 had due to a design flaw.

If your D4 light started to flash, then the transmission computer detected a problem. Find out what code it stored. See: http://www.dhost.info/accordinfo/howto/cel.html

Use a thin paperclip to short the connector. For the trans codes count the D4 light. It could be something as simple as a bad sensor or solenoid.

Count the check engine light just to be thorough.
