Default 95 Accord LX 2.2: Replaced distributor, wont start

Hey y'all,

A few weeks ago my Honda Accord 95 LX, 2.2 L4, would stall after it had warmed up. Some times it would start back up other times it would have to sit a good while.

Took it in for OBD-1 read and got codes for:
48-O2 sensor
12-EGS Valve & Sensor - Intermittent
15-Distributor

I decided to replace the distributor, probably should have started with the EGR valve and sensor as I think about it, but whats done is done.

I started the car fine to move it in garage, once cold I unplugged Bat., spark plug wires ( [its an external coil] kept firing order), and distributor wires. I noticed somthing odd about the old distributor, the 2 lead plug had a wire spliced into the blue wire, it ran directly to the firewall by the driver-side. I removed the distributor and preserved the mystery wire. After cleaning the mounting surface and priming the new o-ring with oil, I put the new distributor on. I reattaching the wires and Bat. w/exception of the mystery wire. When I tried to start, It turned over but wouldn't start. I assumed the mystery wire might have something to do with it so I surface spliced it in the same place as it was before. Same prob, turns over but wont start.

Any suggestions on what to do now,or comments on what that wire is?

The blu wire at the 2-P grey connector (connector C125) is for the engine speed output (rpm) that goes to the tachometer. Was there an aftermarket tach added to the car?

Edit: The blu wire is coming from the Ignition Control Module, make sure that spliced wire that was added isn't shorting against something.

Couple of things to check.

Are you getting any spark at the plugs?

Is the dist in correct? Spin the engine to TDC #1 and be sure the dist rotor is pointing to the #1 spark plug terminal on the cap?

To read the trouble codes, you can use a wire or small paper clip to jump the blue Service Check Connector located under the passenger side dash. See the sticky at the top of this forum section for info., it is the "Common DIY and Other Info. Thread."
