Default 95' A/C electrical issue(s)?

Greetings,

I have a 95 Honda Accord that is exhibiting some odd issues. We know it holds pressure so it's not leaking. The magnetic clutch will engage when directly connected to the battery. However, we bypassed the low pressure switch and it will not engage. Also, the fans do not come on. Where should I go from here?

Thanks.

Several additional possibilites; bad compressor relay, blown AC compressor fuse (fuse 34), blown AC relay fuse (fuse 8), faulty AC thermostat, AC switch in control panel, or defective blower switch (only if blower is not working).

Suggest downloading the 94-97 Accord manual to obtain a wiring diagram, or check autozone.com for a wiring diagram.

good luck

Hi again,

We've discovered the AC clutch and condenser fan relays have 12v to the coils and ~11v on the coil grounds. Would this be a defective ECU or some other problem?

You didn't mention if any of the fuses tested bad. I am not sure how you are testing the two relays either.

I would diagnose at the pressure switch. Unplug pressure switch. Inside of the car, turn on the a/c and make sure that the blower motor is not off.

See if the blu/yel wire at the pressure switch has continuity to ground using a volt meter (~0 resistance, or use the open/close setting on the meter).

The red/wht wire at the pressure switch should have 12V (although it may not since the system is not working).

Let us know what you find.

All of the fuses and relays are good. We found 12v on both sides of the coil by testing each coil side of the connector and grounding to the car chassis. Shorting both relay connectors in the front allows the clutch to engage and one of the fans. Shorting the relay for fan in the fuse box allows the other fan to run. The blower isn't effected at all. It seems the pressure switch works, but is currently bypassed.

Hope that clarifies a few things . . . so what next?

Remove the wire that you used to short the pressure switch connector.

Do the two tests that I suggested in my previous post, and let us know what you find.
