Default 96 Accord dies around 4-5000 rpm

I have a 96 accord lx and having an issue with it. It sat few a couple years and trying to get it straight again. When I start it it idles great but when I rev the rpm's to around 4 or 5000 it just dies immediately after I let off of the gas. Then when I start it back up it will not idle but will run as long as I keep my foot on the gas. However if I let the car sit for quite a few hours it will start up and idle just fine again. I just replaced the ignitor in the distributor, ignition coil, plugs, wires, distributor cap, and the fuel filter. I dont know if I messed something up or this is just another issue. Any ideas???

That is a tough call. I would replace the distributor rotor, as it is a maintenance item that can fail.

I would stop by a parts store and have them scan for codes. Your connector is behind the ash tray. Post any codes you find on here, they start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234.

Not the fixit answer, but I can drive my '93 and '97 here well enough without my car reving into the 4 - 5000 rpm range.
So I'd drive in my neck of the woods, while I'm trying to sort it out.

As PA said, check for codes first.

A few ideas if there are not any codes. Please let us know what you find.
