Default 96' accord ex vtech 4cy automatic transmission

hey everyone Im kinda going through it these days, my car one day just failed man I was on drive but when I accelerated it was just not moving. at home I got 2 codes from my Chek engine light P0108 and P0401. So I figured start from the bottom up I cleaned the EGR ports they were really dirty and now I'm dealing with the MAP sensor, I used a Lucas transmission fix because a private mechanic came to my house and hooked my car up to his computer and told me that I need a new transmission. Has anybody know what I could do instead of just assuming my transmission is gone, because I have this feeling that the transmission isn't really the problem here, it goes in reverse but it seems like It doesn't have Power or something. Please if someone could maybe give me any advice or clue I could really use it, it does have over 200k miles. I did have a bad oil leak that made a mess inside my engine, I've fixed it and cleaned my engine as best as I could. alright I'll just leave it here for now thanks.

Default Help! 96 accord ex doesn't accelerate on drive.

hello hope everyone doing OK, I'm defently not my car won't move, it starts OK no weird noises but when I put it on drive (auto trans) the rpms go but the acceleration doesn't. now I got codes po108 and p0401. I cleaned the egr ports and playing with the map sensor but I had a private mechanic come look at it the other day and he connected with my cars pc and he said that it is a transmission problem. does anyone have a clue about how and what I can do, I'm really not going to buy a new transmission but I need a car to work. I've Lucas I'm going to flush the oil and put new authentic Honda oil, if the map sensor is bad I'll just replace it I cleaned the egr, I guess after that I'll tackle the selonoids clean whatever oh fixed the air intake hose because it was torn up, at first I thought thst was the problem because not long ago I replaced the filter. nothing HELP PLEASE!!!

Is this a V6 or a 4-cylinder 96 accord?

Is the transmission currently filled to the proper level with fluid?

Does the D4 light on the instrument cluster stay on at all times or flash regardless of where you put the shifter?

On the bad oil leak, where was the leak coming from? Are you sure it was engine oil and not transmission fluid?

Have you checked the transmission fluid level?

Is the D4 light on at all times (or flashing) regardless of what gear you select?

yeah the bad oil leak that was unattended for like a year I figured out it was mainly coming from 2 places one wad a selenood near the engine head gasket on the side of it I forgot the specific name of it but i got it fixed and the other one came from the head gasket itself so I replaced the whole thing the only issue was that one of the bolts couldn't screw in all the way seal I would have to use some precise tool to get the srew back in and people told me it was best done by a professional so I just left it be, no more oil came out though. um now when this happened to me the first thing I checked was Trans oil and it wasn't low I mean I did buy a quart just in case and put it in plus I put a Lucas plus it did not smell burnt and the dipstick didn't show me black oil it was red. now I can't for sure say that it doesn't have a leak because there's still something leaking under my car but I don't know if it's the Tran or the steering, that's why I want to do a complete oil flush on the transmission oil and waiting for genuine Honda oil 4quarts just to be safe and I also bought the fluorescence liquid wich helps me find the leak, so im waiting for that now. the D4 I believe it's on not flashing, I did read somewhere that it means something, do you know what flashing or on means? I can't turn it on now because I had to fix my air intake hose and I cleaned the throttle etc just trying to clean as much as I can Also took the map sensor to check it out and cleaned the egr passages not the egr valve itself because that motha****a is a bitch to unscrew.

I merged these 2 threads, since they are dealing with the same problem.

I think that you definitely should do a drain/refill with honda ATF.

I'd say get your other repairs completed so you can try some troubleshooting. The D4 light flashing means your car has a transmission code. If your scanner doesn't read a code and your D4 light is constantly on or flashing, the issue could be the PCM. I would not replace any more parts until you do some more testing. Complete your current repairs and clean up any leaks. You need to make sure the transmission is not running low on fluid to rule out low fluid causing shifting problems.
