Default 96 Accord Front Shocks Replacement?

I don't know if they call them shocks or struts, since they are coiled over, but whats the way to replace them when needed?Mine are fine now,but was just curious what the deal was.

Do you have to compress the coil springs like other car struts,or no?

I did look in the DYI section but did not see a link for it.

Thanks!

THIS my fine sir...depends on what you get....if you get quikreplace...the
n no...you simple remove, install....GO TO ALIGNMENT SHOP.....

if you are keeping your springs currently on the car...then yes, they need to be compressed.

and there is about 6558976970 different reasons/opinions/ideas/who is the best/etc on who to go with.

I happen to be a KYB AGX fan......for just struts....Teins are very good, I hear skunk2 makes some good stuff...sure there is plenty more to choose from

You can REMOVE the spring & shock together as a unit.

If you buy new units with spring & shock together, then you simply install that.
But if you buy shocks without springs, then you need spring compressors to transfer your springs over to the new shocks.

Cool

I replaced both shock/struts on my 97 accord last year. I went online and found a set for 200.00, plus no tax and free shipping.

The assembly comes as a unit, so no need to try to compress the springs. They were actually pretty easy to install.

Good luck!

Thanks all! Sounds like a good deal for a spring/strut unit set for 200.Hmm.
