Default 96 Accord - A/T non Vtec - Speedometer note working and D4 is blinking

My speedometer quit working about a month ago (still kicks in every once in a while) which isnt much of a problem but now the D4 light is blinking as well. Tranny acts like it is stuck in 4th gear so very slow to accelerate.

Note that teh car has 233,000 Miles on it and is not worth sending alot of money on since in its condition its not worth anything.

Any ideas?

Stop by a parts store and have them scan for codes. The connector is behind the ashtray. Post the actual code on here. They start with the letter P and have four numbers, like P1234.

Like P.A said get your codes checked and more than likely you will have a Vehical speed sensor issue code. The Speed sensor is located in the tranny. If you have ABS you will have 2 more on the front wheel hubs these are not the ones you want to replace that would be giving you an abs light if those were bad. But because your car is slow to excelerate and not changing gears it is in limp mode because the Tranny computer gets its info from the speed the speed sensor in the tranny which also controls your speedo. Good luck.

Ok, D-4 light quit blinking after I jiggled teh connection going to the solenoid.
However it came back on this moring with same issue so I stopped and got codes scanned. Below are the codes that came up.
P0758
P0501
P0135
P0141

I giggled the connection again and now it works ok but the speedometer still is in and ouy of working. With out of working bening 98% of the time.

Also my therometer doesnt seem to work any more either.

What connection did you jiggle?

The P0501 is for a problem with the vehicle speed sensor (VSS) signal. Could be the sensor, wiring, or the PCM.

You have two codes dealing with O2 sensors. Is your check engine light turning on while driving too?

I jiggled the connection going to the transmission solenoid and the D4 light quite blinking.

My check engine light has been on since i got the car years ago.
I get the codes read every once in a while to see if anything changes.
Normally it shows the code for the O2 sensor on the catalytic converter which i read really didnt effect the car so i never changed it.

This is the first time any other code other than that one came up.

Also the tach starts to bonuce while the car is slowing down to a stop.
