Default 96 accord trans goes into neutral

96 accord, drive down road hit brake, tranny goes into a neutral state,no forward or reverse. turn car off restart, drive away until brake is used again. any suggestions ?? thanks

Are there any stored code in the ECU? Connector is behind the ash try, plug in the scanner and see what if any are there.

Yes and no, the connector was not behind the ashtray in the place it should have been. But there was and obd ii connector plunged in to a harness, tried connecting to it but would not connect. Worse yet was the check engine light does not work and I can't get any codes that way either

Playing around with it more today I found that after it warmed up is when it would start to act funny, putting it in forward it would take about a second to catch,go to neutral then back to drive it would take a little longer to engage like 2.5 sec. And so on until it would sit and not do nothing. The crazy part about the hole thing is using the brake would make it slip into a neutral state.
