97 Accord Doesn't Shift out of first & CEL
My 1997 Honda Accord LX coupe 4cyl Auto Trans is having shifting issues. The Check Engine Light is on and the codes showed that i need to replace the VSS and the Shift Solenoid which i already did. I'm still having the shifting issue. The car doesn't shift out of first gear and revs very high and when letting go of the accelerator it slowly reduces the RPM. The car reverse's well and all and shifts between Park, reverse and drive like normal. I tried manually shifting from 1, 2, D3 and D4 but it doesn't make any difference. I took the car to a Transmission shop to see if they can figure out the issue but they were unable to find the exact issue with the vehicle. They did tell me the issue is an electrical issue and that they found no issues with the transmission itself. They recommended I change the ECU before I take it to another shop and they charge me for something I can try for cheap and I did replace the ECU twice with two ECU's from the junkyard, Restarting the ECU by pulling the ECU fuse and by disconnecting the battery and still no luck. Any suggestions before I have to resort to taking my car to a shop.
I can check to see if the transmission shop gave me the codes but I won't be able to check until tomorrow morning as my car is parked at my brothers house at the moment. When I got the codes checked with a friend it gave off that the solenoids were bad, then AutoZone codes said the vehicle speed sensor needed to be replaced.
P0715 is a problem with the mainshaft speed sensor. Don't confuse this with the vehicle speed sensor.
P0715 can be a problem with the sensor, wiring, or the PCM. Looks like you ruled out the PCM. Make sure the electrical connector/wiring isn't damaged. Odds are your mainshaft speed sensor is bad, but you would have to do some electrical tests on the wiring to be absolutely sure the sensor is bad.
