Default 04 Accord won't shift out of park, but no CEL

Hi, I have a 2004 Honda Accord EX, Automatic 4-cylinder 2.4L. About 1 month ago I had a CEL code p0122 and I could not shift out of park (had to use override key) and it also had hard shifting as well as sluggish downshift. I was able to replace the Throttle Position Sensor (TPS) by itself. Please see my previous post:
https://www.hondaaccordforum.com/for...l-55111/page3/

At the time, replacing just the TPS (for under $20) seemed to have solved all the issues including the shifting out of park, the CEL & for the most part, the shifting up & down shifting issues.

Yesterday, I could not get the car out of park without using the override key. The hard shifting is back, BUT the check engine light is NOT on??? The idle is ok but the RPMs are high with normal driving (over 2000 rpm's) One thing I have not checked yet is to see if I disconnect the TPS, if I can shift out of park as normal. I did that the last time & it worked.

Would ther be a code to read with a code reader even though the CEL is not on? Is it possible that it was just a cheap TPS I used to replace and it's just gone bad in a month?

Thanks in advanced for your help!

There can be pending code(s) when the Check Engine Light is not on.

It is possible like you said, that the replacement part is faulty.
