Default 97 Accord LX Oil Inside Spark Plugs

The car has had trouble starting the last couple days, and today i took out the spark plugs to check them, and theyre flooded in oil. But i dont know where it is coming from. What are the possible places that it would be leaking from into the spark plugs?

Spark plug tube seals are gone. Get a valve cover gasket set and change them out. Depending on the engine, it could have two sets of tube seals (upper and lower).

edit.....and since you are there....go ahead and replace the plugs. If the cap, rotor are due...why not.

A common place is the sparkplug tube seals. That's part of the valvecover gasket. There's a lot of discussion about this if you search in the General Tech. area. In fact, I'll move this over there, because that's a better place for this question.

HAHAH, Poorman BEAT ME TO IT

1997 LX does have the lower seals, but for those you need to take all the rockers apart. If it were me, I'd replace the upper seals (along with the rest of the valvecover gasket) then wait & see if the lower seals are necessary.

If you eventually need to change the lower seals, you should get a shop manual. The bolting sequence and tightening torque should be followed for the camshaft bearing caps.
