Default 97 accord oil build up?

i have a 97 accord that has built up oil to the right of the injectors on the timing belt side, i recently installed a new valve cover gasket early last week and plug rings due to oil leaking into the plug holes, the previous owner had replaced the cover recently before i purchaced the car and the valve cover was loose! the leaking into the plug holes has stopped, but i noticed the build up when i was installing the new gaskett, the reason im posting is because the oil has yet to dry up, it did rain 4 days last week, this being the second day of dry weather, and my car is missing the plastic wheel wells, that is a another issue i have to take care of but... also i noticed oil residue on the drivers front tire, and have no idea how it got there, i added a pic where the oil is

Only thing besides the valve cover that would contribute oil to that location is camshaft seal. You'll need to loosen valve cover hold down bolts, lift valve cover, and pull upper timing belt cover to inspect seal.

good luck

if i am not mistaken, if that seal was bad the timing sprockets and belt would be covered in oil correct? i checked out the timing belt and sprocket when i did the valve cover gasket and it was nice and clean in there, even looked like a fairly new belt. i cleaned the affected area, to see if it builds up again.

The seal is on the shaft behind the sprocket. You will need to inspect closely to be sure oil is not passing, but oil would seem to be more likely to drain from lower timing belt drain point (very bottom).

good luck

I usually spray Simple Green on dirtier parts, let soak, and spary off w/ pressure washer avoiding delicate parts; distributor, alternator. Let air dry.

good luck
