Default 97 accord shift problem

My 97 accord automatic transmission slips between shifts, in a 4 cyl V-Tec. When it is ready to shift the RPM's increase anywhere from 300 to 600 RPM (based on load) before shifting(it almost seems that it takes too long to shift), when it finally shifts it shifts in very solid. It only seems to do this from 2-3, 3-4. I really cannot believe that the whole transmission is bad but does anyone know what this may be.

I would change the tranny fluid using Honda ATF. Since ~1/3 of the fluid drains, you should drain, refill, drive around for a few miles. Repeat 2 more times to exchange most of the fluid.

When you initially drain, see if the tranny fluid has excessive metal shavings.

You may also want to unbolt the solenoids on the tranny and clean the solenoid and screens.
