Default 97 vtec 5 speed backfires and dies

okay. I drove this car today about 20 miles it ran perfectly. On the return trip it started to backfire and would loose all power. Also when it was running well it felt like the power was lost on the top end. Almost like the timing wasn't advancing. It has new timing belts just done.

I did get P0108 for a code on the reader. But it has a new map sensor in it.

clear the code. Then when the car starts having a problem, check for codes again.

Did the car run ok right after the timing belt change?

It had an issue with a ground. But then it ran fine. Someone removed the intake to change the TPS. So I am thinking there might be a vacuum leak. I am going to check that on Monday.
