Default '98 Accord Coupe keyfob remote glitch ....

brand new battery installed
lights flash and horn beeps upon lock button depression
keyless remote will not lock or unlock drivers door
it will pop the trunk lid open and unlock/lock pass door

lock switch on drivers door will not lock/unlock drivers door
it will lock/unlock pass door

I can hear the lock mechanism working in the pass door - not in the drivers door

am I looking at a new actuator/switch in the drivers door?

First you can rule out any wiring harness being unplugged, loose or dirty.

Got an LX or EX? I used to have a '98 & I think(?) the EX had some kind of multiplexer units that controlled locks & windows & stuff like that. I vaguely remember seeing some kind of 'reset procedure' for the multiplexer. Search around here for that.

I tried the reset trick - nada.

Now the keyfob remote activates nothing at all - even with the fresh battery.

Before the reset attempt, I had the pass door and trunk operating off the remote.

Multiplex switch is $113
door lock actuator $41

Master lock switch on drivers door operates pass side door lock only.
I hear what sounds like a relay under the glovebox, clicking each time I lock/unlock the pass door -I can also hear the actuator in the pass door - NO sounds coming from driver door.

If I use the key in the cylinder, it will lock and unlock BOTH doors every time.

So what should I be looking to replace?

I'd be looking at electrical troubleshooting first, before throwing parts at it. Unfortunately, I don't have the Helm manual with wiring info any more, cause I no longer own a 98 Accord.

Did you check for loose/dirty wiring plugs?

Is there an aftermarket alarm system on your car? Sometimes those can cause a lot of problems.

no after market parts - 100% pure stock

as of 3 days ago ... the keyfob remote does absolutely zero.

New battery helped for about 1 week - now the trunk lid won't even pop loose via remote.

What gives?
Multiplex switch?
or a sensor that reads the RF signal gone bad somewhere?
