Unhappy 98 accord v6 idle

Hi fellow Honda owners. I have a 1998 Honda accord ex v6 with 160000 miles. Well maintained. Problem is it will not start unless the gas pedal pushed and it will not hold an idle. I can keep it running with my foot on the pedal at 1200 rpm smoothly. But I let off the gas and it stalls. Any ideas??????????
thanks

It could be from a number of problems. Are the maintenance items up to date like the spark plugs, distributor cap, and distributor rotor?

Does your check engine light stay turned on when the car is running?

Plugs rotor and cap are somewhat new. I plugged the plugs and they looked great. No check engine light. No codes.

Your problem could be from a spark, fuel, or compression problem.

If you have a timing light, see if it flashes on each plug wire when you try to start the car with you foot off of the gas pedal.

You can pull the vacuum hose off of the fuel pressure regulator and you should not get a strong smell of gasoline. Honda has a non-standardized fuel pressure adapter, so testing fuel pressure takes a special adapter.

You can definitely give that a try. Let us know if that fixes your problem.

I did what the link that I have in my last post and the car seems to run just fine. I also think reseating the M.A.P. connector and the T.P.S. connector may have helped. Even though there were no codes.
