98 EX COUPE ac compressor

Are your fans also turning off when this happens? The the a/c light stay on when this happens?
I would hook up a test light to see if you are losing power when your compressor turns off. If you have a 1-wire connection, backprobe the connector and hook on end a 12V test light on the connector. The other end, connect to a known ground (like a bolt on the valve cover).
If the light stays on when the compressor turns off, then the problem is with the clutch or the magnetic coil (or a loose/corroded ground on the compressor).
If the light turns off when the compressor cycles off, something upstream is causing the problem and you will have to work backwards starting with the relay.

Thanks,I'll check out the fans tomorrow. And the lights do stay on when it happenes. It was working fine after I replaced the a/c controller unit Monday morning.I let my Dad charge it with a kit from O'Rilies Monday afternoon. It seemed fine this morning (Tues.)about 6ish when I drove it home. When I left tha house today around 1:30 and turned tha air on,it started to act strange. The compressor, or something under the hood seems to be running rather loud and rough.?.
