98 honda accord lx check engine light.
I have a 98 honda accord lx 6cylinder and the check engine light doesn't come on when I turn the key to the on position. It's keeping me from passing inspection. I've checked all the fuses. I have a brand new gas cap. What could it be?

Agreed. Check it first, before spending a bunch of time and money. If this is an AT car, you might be able to steal the D1 bulb to use as a replacement (not sure on the sizes).
Some cars have to turn the bulb on to read codes with the scanner too.
