Good afternoon,

Could anyone please guide me as to what could be the problem with my 99 Accord Coupe EX V6. When you turn the key in the ignition the car starts but then immediately shuts off. The alternator was just replaced. Any ideas???

When it dies, do all the indicators on the dash go dark?

That might be a flaky ignition switch. See if it will stay running if you don't quite release the key all the way, holding it at intermediate position.

A better test would be continuity thru the electrical part of the igntion switch, for each of the circuits.

 

i have to agree with Jim,, sounds like a bad electrical portion of the ignition switch....

start the car and slightly back off and hold the key off the start position just enough to keep starter from being engaged,, if car does not die ,, you found the problem
