Default 99 Accord LX 4 cylinder, ID engine???

Hi,

I have been asked by parts suppliers (i.e. NAPA) which 4 cyl engine is in my accord.....I provided thge VIN to the dealer and asked which/what 4 cylinder engine I have and their reply is "there is only one model 4 cyl. engine in the Honda Accord."

What's the deal?

Can someone please explain how to identify the engine in my 99 accord LX that I just purchased (my first Honda after several Toyotas).

Thank you....

There are the F32A1 and F23A4 engines.

Open the hood, if it say ULEV in a green painted area, it's a F23A4.

Also, directly right of the top radiator hose, is the number on the engine block.

There's also the F23A5 which I think is non-VTEC for the Accord DX.

Default top radiator hose?

red bull,

I see something stamped to the right of the hose connection. very difficult to read even with it cleaned (spotless). What are the numbers or letters I am looking for.
Says VTEC on the valve cover, sticker on under side of hood (with valve lash gap and spark plug gap) says 2.3 litre.

Thanks...

It usually has the engine number, followed by some serial numbers.

For example, it might say F23A1-10000001; where the F23A1 would be what you are looking for. There may be another metal plaque with the VIN and engine number near the driver's side fender under the hood. I don't remember that well on the 6th gen accords.

F23A1 (or F23A4 or F23A5) the engine type on the first line
serial # (probably beginning with 2) on the 2nd line
