Default '99 Accord LX..A/C Console doesnt work, can't figure it out!!

Hey guys,

My A/C blower(fan) speed control **** works..but all the buttons with lights in that area dont light up or function (blower direction control, rear defroster, etc) and the temperature control **** doesnt work. Does anyone know what this could be or how to fix it? Thanks!

I would check the fuses first. It may be that you have to replace the HVAC unit. If you know how to solder, you may want to look at the circuit board for cracked solder joints.

Temp **** frequently fails by cracking of the drive section in the ****. New **** or repair old **** is fix. Check ebay for replacement ****.

Fuse 8 (7.5A) in under dash fuse box powers mode control motor and mode switches on 94 Accord. Yours should be similar.

good luck

I had the same symptoms on my '99. I replaced the control unit with a used one from ebay, and haven't had any trouble since.

The fan speed, the air direction are 2 separate components. The back light is also a separate component. You can have all the buttons fail, and the fan speed and also the night time bulbs will still work.

You know the control failed when the LED indicators have all gone out meaning the smaller LED when you press the AC, RECIRC or DEFROST button, but the night illumination will still work at night.

Hi all, I have a similar but not exactly the same problem. Could you please help me? Thanks!
My car is Honda Accord 2000 w/ 106000 miles.
My air conditioner stops cooling the air. All buttons (including A/C button, blower direction control buttons, recirculation button, rear window defogger button) in the control unit don't light up at most time, and sometimes flash. When one of the buttons flashes, if I press another button, the flash changes to the second button. The fan continues to blow and the speed and direction can be controlled, but no cooling is coming out, i.e. my A/C blower speed control and blower direction control work.
If I press the rear window defogger button, it flashes too and I can hear a clear periodic click sound.
I am grateful if anyone can offer advice.

Look in the Common DIY Threads at the top of this section to see about getting the HVAC codes.

I don't think there is a way to get HVAC codes for the 98-02 accords. That stuff started in 2003+ accords.
