'99 Accord not starting after battery cable replacement
thanks. I did some research and my Accord was covered under a safety recall issued in 2002 for an ignition switch that wears prematurely. I bought the car used in 2010 and the original owner brought it in for recall service. I've scheduled an appointment at a local Honda dealership for them to look at it and see if it's the same problem. The guy I spoke to gave me an iffy answer whether a second repair would be covered under the safety recall too. We'll see. Is the ignition switch difficult to replace on your own? Do you have to worry about the airbag?
Ignition switch replacement on your car is fairly easy. See Procedure B in the link:

any thoughts on whether I should buy an OEM ignition cable or will be ok with one from AutoZone? I took it to the dealership this morning to see if it would be covered under the same recall (there was a recall for ignition switches in my model Accord in 2002, but this car was already brought in for that), but the service guy told me there would be a $60 fee just to diagnose the problem, which is about the cost of an ignition cable from Autozone. Don't know if they are the same quality though.
ok. Also, any opinions of whether a new auto zone brand starter or an OEM Honda starter out of an accord with 60,000 miles would be a better buy? The new starter has a limited lifetime warranty, but I'd rather not replace it all the time.
