Default 99 Accord voltage regulator/bulbs blown

I changed the stereo in my car and it worked for a while and then the voltage regular blew. I double checked the stereo wiring and it was good. I changed the alternator and everything seems okay. The wife drove the car for the first time at night and didn't have any head lights. I checked and they were both blown. The previous owner put 25% extra bright bulbs. Could these bulbs cause the regulator problem? How come the fuses didn't blow? I had another post about the car stereo but no one responded. Please let me know what you think.

Extra bright bulbs have shorter lifespan. And it's pretty common to not notice when the first bulb goes out. When the 2nd one goes out you think they both burned out together.
Just sayin...

But I don't think the bulbs cause the regulator problem. More likely the regulator problem caused the bulbs to go.
