99 honda ignition switch recalls
I just took my honda in for the ignition recall, as my honda was stalling on the highway randomly. Anyways took it in, they called and told me there are 3 recalls on my car, one would be the ignition where the key goes, so that was changed. Problem being they said the old key doesn't work on the new ignition, and that a new key will cost $155. Is this BS, why should I pay for a key? I mean I signed a piece of paperwork saying no cost would be incurred on this work. There is no way I want to pay $155 for this, should Honda cover this? thoughts and comments.
They should have only installed the electrical portion of the ignition switch. The mechanical part with the key should not have been changed.
Explain this to the service manager. If he is not cooperative, call Honda of America.

there was three recalls, so your saying out of the recalls, none of them apply to changing this part? I did argue with manager, and he asked if I had another key, I do so I had to run it down to them and it worked. Should I still fight and get a new key or leave it alone?
Your second post cleared up something in the first post.
The ignition switch has two parts: The mechanical part is what the key goes into and turns. The electrical part is what makes the electrical connections and is turned by the mechanical part.
One of the recalls you had done will only replaced the electrical part of the switch. I thought the dealership replaced the mechanical part too, but that is not the case since your other key is working.
Ask the dealership why the original key is not working? Is it mechanical or does it have to deal with the immobilizer system (security)?
