Default 99 vtec to 01 ulev 2.3 swap???

Hi all, I just acquired a 2001 accord 2.3 auto, with a mint body. Car looks perfect. Problem is the motor is toast. Reeks of coolant, won't stay running, a real turd. My 99 accord 2.3 5 speed also just hit a deer and messed up the front end pretty good. So what I'm thinking is take motor and 5 speed out of the 99 and swap into the 01 body. Any idea if I'll come into any problems? They're both 2.3 4 cylinders, one says vtec the other says something like ulev vtec on the valve cover. I'm thinking the clutch pedal and all that of course, possibly computer. Other than that should I need to swap anything? Much appreciated any help I may recieve.

If you are putting the MT into the 01, then I think you'll need the transmission mount bracket from the 99 that is welded (or maybe bolted) to the subframe. Just take a close look at how/where the motor and transmission mounts are setup on both vehicles. Do the same for how the clutch pedal is installed on the 99 and what you'll have to swap to the 01. I'm not sure if any welding is necessary for the clutch pedal.

You'll most likely need to use the 99 PCM and wire harness, which means the sensors for the 99 exhaust will have to be moved to the 01. You'll want the 99 PCM to have the 99 sensors/components to properly run the engine.

Since you have a MT donor car, you'll have everthing you need to do this swap, but I suspect some welding will be required.

Option B is to price an identical sued engine from an 01 and the swap should be straight-forward with zero fabrication.

Option C is to verify the 01 engine is toast and why it isn't running. A compression and leak down test is a good idea and pressure test the cooling system to verify the engine needs swapped.

I'd probably try option C as it is fairly quick. I'm more of an option B person, as you won't run into any unexpected issues that could leave both vehicles out of service longer than expected. Not sure if you have another vehicle to use while doing this work, because it could take longer than expected to do this swap.
