Hello, hope someone could help me with this problem. I have a 95 accord ex vtec coupe and everytime i start my car my ABS unit buzzes for like 30 seconds then the ABS lite somes on. It looks to me i need fluid in it but i dont know where to fill it up from. My master cylinder is full of fluid so i have no idea what to do. When i brake the car feels fine with no problem so i hope someone could help me so i dont get ripped off by a mechanic. thanks

 

even if the abs system is totally out of commision the regular brakes still work ok,,that is why you do not notive anything wrong with the brakes,,

abs and rgular brakes use 2 different flud reservoirs,, regular brakes uses the brake master cylinder reservoir,, the abs uses the modulator reservoir,, it is located at the left frt ( driver's side ) of the car, left fender . across from p/s pump..
most likely you got a modulator-acumulator leak if it is low on fluids ,, very common with that year car ,,so you can chk the fluid to see if low,, but also you should chk the ABS code ,,
if a shop checkes it out , they might want to sell you the modulator assembly P+L, over 1000 dollars,, but it can also be resealed , dealer should sell a reseal kit ,, i have successfully resealed a few and i had to replace the modulator assembly on some and a few where people did not want the abs system any longer ,,
depending on where you live ( no snow ) you can do without ABS with no problems,, if you reside in a snowy winter state then it is a good idea to have the abs system working , it could be a life saver
If you are not very mechanically inclined , it is something that i would reccomend you NOT TO attempt the repair , take it to a shop that specializes on Hondas or the dealer ,, and if it turns out to be a leaky modulator ask them to reseal it ..

 

Sorry for breathing life into an old thread but I had a 94 that developed the problem at around 110K and I would just replenish the fluid in the ABS to keep it goin for a few years then later I just ran it with out ABS and removed the fuse up to about 250K miles when i sold it to a friend still running well to this day.........
Now a couple of weeks ago I bought a 96 for my son with 140K on it andits having the ABS leakissue. Its loosing fluid and with him being a 16yr old new driver I need to fix this problem. I am very mechanically apt andthis honestly is the only thing I have yet to do to any of the 6Accords I have owned. But my question or request for that matter is for anydirection tosome seal replacement step by stepinfo. Thanks in advance......

 

There is a TSB for the leaking ABS modulator that specifies to remove, clean and reinstall 6-8 hex plugs in the modulator body. It does require removal of the modulator, which is easy w/ a 10mm flare tubing wrench. I simply tightened all the plugs on my daughter's 97 Acura 2.2 CL, which has same modulator as the 94-97 Accords. PM your email address and I'll email a copy to you.

It is also possible for a leak to develop from the modulator accumulator. A small oring must be replaced. Oring must be matched as it's not sold by Honda.

good advice there Texas.. but you can get the accum o-ring from Honda , i have got it from them before,, wether they disccontinued it , i do not know, i have not resealed one in over 1 year
