Exclamation accord 2007 2.2 icdti wont start when engine hot

Hi all,
I've had my 2007 Accord for just under 3 years, the car runs fine and hasn't given me any real problems aside from this starting issue. What happens is I put the key in and turn it, then have to hold it down while the car seems to be trying to start itself. There's a clicking sound though it seems to be "coughing" if that makes sense, the engine is spinning but wont start when engine is hot .I went to mechanic and clean the EGR valve but still don,t start. when engine cold it starts but with difficulty.

I don't know how else to describe it. I know almost nothing about cars. Anyone have any ideas what this could be?

Is this a 4 or 6 cylinder? Auto or manual?

icdti (diesel?) engine isn't offered in USA at all, so we're not real helpful. I hope the title attracts the attention of our UK members.

I'll move this over to Gen.Tech where it belongs.

I see you had another thread with more detail, which JimBlake answered. I merged your threads.

This link has some info. that may be applicable to your problem, refer to posts # 14 and 15, where possible cause was either a leaking fuel injector or common rail and sensor.

Another starting problem :-( - TypeAccord

Good luck.

A 2.2 litre is probably a 4 cylinder.
