Default Accord/Civic/Tercel.....Help!

Hello all....Im a newbie here w/ my first post....
I just recently, after some research purchased an 95 Accord EX w/ 94K miles on it....absolutely love the car. Everything I'd hoped and more...my previous car a '93 Toyota Tercel was dead in the water. After having the Accord now for about 3 months the one thing Im missing from the Tercel is the gas mileage around town...getting mid 20's and got considerably better mileage than that w/ the Tercel.
Defintely love the Hondas and was wondering for those of you who own Accords and Civics....if I got a Civic would my around town gas mileage (mostly all I drive), about what the Tercel was getting?? Edmunds list the Accord 23/town 30/city, (recently got 36mph to Va and back), Civic 28/town 35/city and the Tercel28/town 34/city.
Have a lead on a 2000 Civic LX I could trade for my 95 Accord plus some cash....
Guess Im just wanting to hear from people who own both and their thoughts and experiences between the two.....thanks in advance for any help which I might recieve...........all the best...............Kenny

I owned a 94 civic dx (base model) and currently have a 94 accord ex (top of the line) I got like 35 mpg on a road trip and I think I'm at mid to high 20's around town (depending on what I do...) and my civic was typically right at 30 MPG around town so I'd say the civic is considerably better in town and about the same on the highway largely due to the fact that it weighs so much less.... Welcome to the forum, hope it helps!

i had a 1996 civic dx hatchback for 10 years and got about 30mpg mixed city and hwy driving... and i have a lead foot so imagine what a normal driver would get?...

1996 - 2000 civic CX, DX and LX get great mpg bc they are 100 hp/ 90 torque engines so they are commuter very fuel efficient cars.... the EX model has 120 HP... my buddy has one, but he gets about 28 mpg mixed and he too has a lead foot...

as long as you stick with the low HP engines, you'll get 30- 40 mpg...

i just bought a 2004 accord last month and i miss the 30 mpg i was getting with the civic... my first tank got me about 24 mpg mixed driving, but i think that's bc i love punching it.... it's a 4 cylinder / 160 HP/ 160 Torque engine... it's not quick off the line, but i love the i-vtec which kicks in between 2500 and 4000 rpm... it's a fun car... but i kind of wish i bought the V6, but then again the V6 gets 20 mpg or probably less since i have a lead foot...

anyway, i don't know what your price range is, but if it's between $5k - $9k... then i highly recommend getting a 1999 Civic EX bc it's much livelier than the DX, LX, CX models...

civics and preludes have smaller engines and weigh less than accords so you should either have the same mileage or better. my 86 prelude actually got about the same mileage as my 92 accord I have now.
