Default Accord Euro CL9

Hello.

I own a Honda Accord Euro LA-CL9.

Before there was an EPS light on the dash and I just ignored the warning and continue using the car. Power steering was still function-able.

Until recently, the EPS light would flash and the steering would go heavy whenever it flashes. Whenever it flash i can hear the ECU for EPS is clicking inside the side floor panel where it locates.

I had it scan and it doesn't show any fault codes!

I am not able to drive this car anymore due to sudden flashing of the EPS and steer goes heavy.

Please advice!

I'm not sure what the "EPS" lamp it. Cars for different markets (Euro vs. Asia vs. USA, etc) have them labeled differently. Anything in your owner's manual?

EPS = electronic power steering.

Car doesn't have owners manual, bought the car second hand.

The EPS ECU would click click click many times and randomly and EPS light on dash would flash whenever it clicks and same time steering would go stiff whenever light is on.

The car stored no faults! Put a new battery too!

Please advise!

sounds like your power steering motor or computer is having a serious malfunction.
Usually when a warning light flashes it means there is a real big problem that needs looking at ASAP. The flashing is the computer telling u "help me, stop driving me, pull over & bring me somewhere NOW"
Just my 2 cents

What year is this vehicle?

I have never heard of an EPS type of light on US accords. Maybe newer US accords have some equivalent indicator. Finding an owner's manual may help. The US honda site has an owner's link where you can view the owner's manual. I'm not sure if the UK has anything similar.

I guess that I would check the fluid level in the power steering reservoir.

It is an electric motor power steering and doesn't contain any fluid.

Sigh. I think this vehicle is made in Japan and imported to Singapore and Australia.

Not the same car as the USA Accord.

Try HondaCivicForum.com - Powered by vBulletin cause I think there were some USA Civics that had electric power steering.
