Default accord transmission

I have a 2012 accord 4cyl with auto transmission. When I shift the car from park to drive or park to reverse it has a hesitation before you feel it engage. It shifts okay when driving only this 2-3 second delay when putting into drive. Any ideas greatly appreciated

I've had this symptom on my 94 EX for years w/o any adverse problems. I've heard it is related to low hydraulic pressure in trans slowing actuation of gears. Is this only a cold engine problem or all the time?

Suggest an ATF change; drain/replace. This helps many problems on Accords and is good practice. Some perform this regularly at 30K mile intervals.

good luck

Thanks for the reply. I am off tomorrow so I think I will try changing the fluid. Good to hear it's a common issue. It has 186,000 miles and I don't have any records to tell if it was ever changed.

Please, only use Honda trans fluid on this.
