Default Air bag code 61

I have a 2004 Honda accord coupe v6 6 speed manual. I have air bag code 61 which by what I saw on vehix411 I believe the site is means internal failure. Any idea how that would be fixed. If not something I can do at least I know what to expect if I bring it somewhere
Thanks for any help

How was this code retrieve? On the later Accords, they had different codes than the earlier Accords and also differed slightly depending on who made the SRS unit (e.g., TRW or Denso).

It might be code 61-1x ("x" can be 0 thru 9 or A thru F); open in driver's seat belt buckle switch. If it is the seat belt buckle switch, you may possibly be able to get Honda to replace for no charge.

There is no SRS code 6-1 for your year Accord.

Others have fixed seat belt switch w/ liberal dose of WD40 and excercise by inserting/removing the belt into latch. However, as RB points out, Honda will likely cover cost of this problem and it's an easy fix.

good luck
