Default Airbags deployed while driving down the interstate

As I was heading to work this morning my passenger curtain and seat airbags deployed for no reason. I am the original owner of this 2007 Honda accord. Has anyone else had this issue and if so what did you do? I called Honda today and the local dealership was shocked that the airbags deployed but after looking this issue up it seems to be semi common.

I don't remember anyone posting about that; I haven't done a proper search but I think I'd remember that.

Honda used to warranty the airbags "for the life of the car" but I don't think it is any more. But it's a long warranty & it's worth a look through your owners manual package.

I've never heard of that happening before. I do know that seat belts and sensors are basically for the life of the car. Yes there are exceptions though. I do have to ask, did the seat belts lock up, since the air bags went off? Just asking, as it seems that lately I keep hearing that when the bags go off, it sends a lock up charge to the belts (to prevent additional injuries, and adds cost to repairs). I'd probably swing by my local Honda dealer, and see what they say. Who knows, it might be covered under warranty.

Generally the 25mph impact bumper is what triggers the airbags. Did the drivers side not deploy when they should have also? Sounds odd, possibly proves a defect. Does your model have a switch that turns on/off passenger side? Possible short causing deployment? Curious.

The seat belts did not lock up. Only the passenger side went off. None of the airbags should have deployed. There is not a switch to turn the passenger air bags off.
I have contacted Honda and got a case #. Waiting to hear back from them to take it in to be inspected.

This sound similar to the issue with some 2008-2009 Accord 4-doors where a safety recall was issued.

BACKGROUND
The SRS threshold setting for the side impact sensor is such that with the vehicle ignition on, if there is a strong, non-vehicular collision impact to the lower body of the vehicle or if a door is shut with extreme force, the SRS ECU may interpret the input as a crash and command the seat airbag and/or side curtain airbag to deploy. Airbags that unexpectedly deploy increase the risk of injury.
