Default Alarm system problems

Just purchased a 2000 Accord for son and having problems with the security system. The relay under the hood clicks and it beeps under steering column. It's causing battery to drain. The car didn't come with a key fob just a regular key. Where should I start?

What trim level (EX, LX, DX)?

Is it an aftermarket alarm?

Default Alarm system problems

I don't know how to tell. It's not on title either. Its a 2 door coupe with the 3.0 vtech motor. Is it possible that it's a bad battery? I had it tested and it come back a bad battery. That's the first step I guess. It has a few issues. It's a project car I knew that going on. Motor is sound just needs mainly detail/trim work and paint job.

The 2000 Accord 2-door only came in EX or LX, but either one was available with the V-6 engine. Easiest way to tell is the EX has a sunroof & LX doesn't.
(that's for USA; I don't know how that lines up in Canada & I don't know where you are)

I'm sure a bad battery can cause flaky behavior, but not sure in detail. I had a 1998 EX with factory alarm and when the battery died the alarm didn't go crazy.

I'm in the USA and it's an Ex then cause there is a sunroof. Is there anyway to bypass or totally do away with alarm by chance? And I wanna thank you for your help by the way.

I wish I knew... When I had that Accord the alarm never messed up so I never had to fix it.

We got a new battery and no problems since. (Fingers crossed) hope that was it. There has been bubbling in the power steerimg resivoir and some fluid loss. I'm guessing the low pressure line is bad.

It is possible that you just have a bad o-ring where the line connects to the pump. It will pull in air cause the fluid to have air bubbles.

I'd suggest keeping a bottle of PS fluid to keep the system topped off. Clean off the pump and lines and clean near the power steering rack. Once clean, try to find out where it is leaking. You can spray athlete's foot powder on the components after you clean to try and help identify a leak. Also pull back the boots to the inner tie-rod end to see if you have PS fluid in there.
