Default Alternator effects transmission? Please help

ok, heres the deal. This last week or so I have started to notice my dash lights "Pulse" at idle and when I accellerate they seem to brighten (indicating maybe Alternator problem usually right?) well I had planned on replacing the alternator my next paycheck (next week) and on the way to work this morning (early morning/dark out) I went out started the car, it started right up as usuall, turned on my headlights (H.I.D.'s power hungry..), heater/defroster and began my trip to work. As I was going along the freeway my dash lights began to slowly get dimmer and dimmer and dimmer and when I turned off my headlights..."BLOOP" the dash light up brigher, I tried this several times as driving and decided I would just drive with headlights off as Visibility was not a problem just had to be careful. Made it all the way to about 2 blocks from my work and dash lights were almost completey out/dim. Had to stop at a stop light and when i began to accellerate, my car was gutless, almost as if I had a 1000lb bag of cement in the trunk, and the tranny felt as if it was slipping. My usual honda shop (Not dealership) said that sounds about right if its charging/alternator problem as the transmission has some sort of electronic deelybob that would get "confused" if there was a lack of power.

Any oppinions on this? I am planning on pulling the Alternator tomorrow to have it tested and possibly replaced as I HAVE to have my car running by monday.

That sounds about right for an alternator going out.

You might want to check that the alternator and battery connections are all clean and secure.

Also check the grounds. Big3 upgrade ischeap and easy and may provide some relief.

test the battery to make sure that you didn't kill it by running w/o the alt charging properly.
