i have a 1989 honda accord lxi and the battery light comes on sometimes and my lights will start going dim, and then all of a sudden the battery light goes off and everything powers back up. Is this in fact a dying alternater or a loose wire somewhere thanks.

 

sounds like the alt is going ,, But , test the battery and make sure that all the cables are clean and tight ,, and have a shop do a charging system test

 

You may want to check the for the alt. belt for proper tension. If you can hold the belt and can turn the pulley it is too loose.
