Default Am I crazy for selling at this price?

I have a spare Honda Accord 1993 LX and I'm just going to sell it. I don't have the room to keep it around anymore.

I've had it outside with for sale signs and have gotten a few calls in the first few weeks and then the calls dropped off and now I get maybe one call every two weeks.

The only serious offer I've gotten is $500.00. I thought the car would sell for at least $1200.00.

IF you were in my shoes, would you accept $500.00 or not? Is it wrong for me to feel like crap because I feel like I'm being ripped off? If someone can just come out and say the car is actually worth $500.00 or less I would feel a lot better. But all I'm seeing is bluebook values saying it's worth more than $2000.00.

This is for a 1993 LX with a no-smoke clean interior, power windows, functioning air conditioner, no accident, 121,000 mileage. Timing belt replacement will need to be done.

I feel like the majority of people submitting offers are looking to score the car off of me for $200.00, fix a thing or two up and flip it up for higher.

I paid $1800 for my 1993 LX about 6 months ago. Even with 224,000 miles at that point, it runs great and has all service history. I agree...Take some good pics put it on Craigslist. I am sure that $1200 is a very fair price, but it may take a while to sell.

I would think you can get between $1000 and $2000 for it. $500 is low but you have to remember its almost 20 years old not many people want to buy a car that old.

On kbb.com, this car's private resale value goes up to $2000 given it's in pristine condition, or $1300 if it's in fair condition. So I'd say $1200 isn't unreasonable, if it's really in good working order and you got the papers to prove it.

But if you're selling it to a dealership, they won't go higher than $500 unless you're buying a car from them. At least that was my experience (and a couple of friends had the same).

You can generally scrap a car for $400+, so an offer of $500 on a '93 that doesn't have a blown engine (let alone low miles like that) is not one I would take. Personally I'm planning on spending around $1000-1300 if I buy a 91-93 once classes end, so I'd say unless you're really hurting for money stick it out, wait for someone who isn't lowballing the heck out of you. There's going to be someone out there. Keep waiting for that $1200. If I were you I'd have my asking price be around $1750 and take offers from there. Just my .02

I would say 800-1000 would be a fair price for it. Anything over that you more than likely will not get. While it does have low miles, and as you described it it is in good condition, it is almost 19 years old, and not too many people want a car that old.

Also remember you can easily find 94-97 accords in the 1-2k price range.

Do you have it listed on craigslist? Its free to list on there and it reaches a pretty big market.

are you in the north or south (snow vs no snow area) I would pay more for a car that age that had spent its life in a non snow region. Old cars in snowy regions just are asking for more repairs from the salt.
