Default another newbie oil question

Hi All!

As of yesterday I became the proud owner of a 2001 Accord Coupe EX 5 speed with 77,000 mi. I love this car

Called to bring it in for an oil change and asked what oil they would use and they suggested 5-30 because of the milage. manual calls for 5-20.

Which should i use? Thanks.

Tommy

Either one will work just fine. I'm a fan of Mobil 1 0W20, some folks are not. Keeping it changed on a regular basis is more important than which weight to use in this instance.

I am using 10W-30 Valvoline petroleum base right now. So far the highway mileage for 5W-20 and 10W-30 is identical at 36.3 and 36.4 MPG. I will be changing to Quaker State 10W-30 synthetic at my next oil change around 5-6K miles. Incidentally, the Honda manual for cars sold in australia say use 10W-30 oil, not 5W-20.
