Default Battery Current Draw

I did the test in the DIYs and have some questions. My current draw is 0.039A with my alarm system disabled. When I disconnect the fuse to my stereo system, it goes down to 0.030A/0.031A. This seems pretty close to the standard. I will be checking the stereo wires for a ground problem or something, but 0.039A is still not much difference in current.

Here is the problem: When the alarm is armed, the current jumps to 0.143A.....WOW that is from 39mA to 143mA. Is this normal for an alarm system? What can I do?
