Default Battery Light Flickering

The battery light on the dash is flickering on and off on my 1997, Accord coupe with the V-Tec. I just had the battery and alternator checked and both are good. Read all the codes and there are no codes specific to this problem in the computer. The connections on the battery are good. Any ideas?

Suggest purchasing a battery monitor to install in cigarette lighter socket. Check walmart. They were about $15 last time I purchased one. This will supply voltage at all times and allow you to cross-check the flickering light. Voltate should stay above 13V all the time unless a heavy electrical load is present.

Low voltage could be result of slipping belt or possibly a damaged crankshaft pulley (outer pulley is loose from inner pulley due to worn/damaged rubber bushing). I had this happen on a 97 Acura 2.5TL and it's been reported by others.

good luck

You can "draw a line" on the crank pulley accross the inner and outer section. Then after driving a bit double check that line....if it has "moved" then you will know it is slipping.....
