Default Bigger tires on 93 accord ex

It comes with 195/60/15..
What is a good size for a much wider rear tire?

How big can I go on the front? I'd like to end up with maybe a 5" taller *** end and as wide as I can in the back and a little wider for front ones

I don't want to go nuts or anything.. I want to keep the center of gravity fairly good, you know?

I don't want to **** with finding new wheels, just tires

Thanks!!

If you want the back of your car to raise up by 5 inches through choosing a different size tire, then you'll need to add 5 inches to the overall radius of the wheel/tire and IMO that doesn't sound very reasonable, although I could be wrong.

As far as width, on my 2000 Accord (which also came with 195 width tires) I have managed 215 in the rear with no problems. You could probably go 220 or 225, but I would take some careful measurements first. You can't go beyond 215 in the front though. I put the 215's in the front of mine and they work, but they're extremely close to hitting the knuckle. They don't hit when turning though.

Oh my lord, no, I am sorry, I meant 5%

Ahh I see. Well, if you want to add 5% to the current height, you need to first find out what 5% of the current height is. Measure the height (I suggest in mm) and multiply by 0.05. That will tell you how many mm you need to add to sidewall measurement which is currently 117mm. Figure this out first and also figure out how wide you're going to go.

I may not be back on here anytime soon because I'm at school, so I'll give you the details of how to calculate this so you can do it.

You'll have to set up a basic equation. Let's assume you're going to go with 215 width and you want to add 25mm to the sidewall for a total of 142mm. You'll have to calculate the second number in the tire size, which is actually a percentage. To do this:

215x = 142 where 'x' is the decimal form of the second number in the tire size. After solving for x, multiply it by 100 and round to the nearest multiple of 5.

In the example case, x= 0.66 which is 66. Round down to 65 and you're tire size will be:

215/65/R15

Also, your tire diameter will increase which will throw off your speedo. I've never done it or known anyone who have done it, but supposedly you can have the ecu recalibrated to take into account the new diamter.

I'm going to put the back tires on the front and just want to get wider in the back now.. how wide can I go on this car? Will wider tires increase the rolling resistance enough to hurt mileage on the highway?

Also, I can't figure out why I want the *** a little higher.. what does that accomplish? I think it might look a little better and make cornering a little easier? Right?

I have a really good 205/65/15 .. maybe find another to match it .. that be pretty good for the back (keeping 195/60/15 for the front)?

Oh lord, now, I find out that wider tires do WORSE in the winter time. Is that really true? Good Lord. Never mind.. But I still want to get a little higher in the back, I think that makes it easier to turn corners quickly.

This is about to drive me insane. I had no idea that tires could be such a complex issue!! Different rubber compounds, different tires for different days, bla bla bla. My conclusion is that poor people should not have tires. Ever.

Higher in back (or front) will make your car handle worse.
