I have a 1993 accord lx where the brake indicator (upper section) will be off while in park and go and stay on if the car is shifted to reverse or drive and is off in neutral without the e brake engaged. If I engaged e brake light is on but when i disengaged light is off. I have replaced the cap master cylinder cap thinking its intermittent but still has the same problem. Many Thanks for any help.

 

Not really following you, it is early and I haven't had the proper amount of coffee yet.

Is the light coming on when you press the brake pedal, you have to push the pedal to shift from P to R, N or D.

 

poorman what the problem is the "Brake " light on the dash console lights up when i shift to drive or reverse , then the shifter is in neutral it turns off. All my rear lights and third brake lights are working good , the Brake light indicator next to the lights for the doors open is off. Its just the BRAKE LIGHT indicator on the top upper section of the dash is in question . Thanks for any reply and help.

 

So in park, engine running, push the brake and nothing happens? Pump the pedal a few times just to be sure.

Shift to D and the brake light comes on? Pull the e-brake and it gose off?
