Default Brake and Transmission Fluid Change Necessary?

60 000 miles (96,560 km). Got it 3 years ago at 43 000 miles, not sure if previous owner did or not.

For the cost of 4 qts of Honda Z1 fluid and a quart (or so) of brake fluid...I would do it. Then you are sure and can know when it is due the next time.
Both are pretty simple and won't take long, again if you're not sure...I'd do it.

EDIT: Sorry without the year and engine I could be wrong on the amount of trans fluid...assumed it was an older model but just re-read and thought twice.

Anytime I buy a used car, I always assume that there has been no maintenance done on it at all, unless the previous owner can provide service receipts. Fluids get changed first. Like poorman said, that gives you a base reference point for future maintenance.

All cars with ABS should have the fluid changed every once and a while.
And changing the Z1 every now and again is just good practice

There's no schedule for changing PS fluid. But I refuse to believe that any working-fluid can last forever. Does it look dirty?

Brake fluid absorbs moisture from the air and that makes it corrosive. That's true with or without ABS.

The other thing people overlook is to change anti-freeze every few years. The glycol is still there so it won't FREEZE, but the anti-corrosion package gets "used up" over time.

And you never said auto or manual transmission. Manual trans fluid should be changed too, but it should last longer than ATF.
